The location for the media launch was the
Southport Promenade at the end of the pier. The skies were overcast but the rain thankfully held off. Our phones suddenly sprung into life as several family and friends informed us that we had been
on ITV breakfast news. Pictures of Dad and
Queenscourt - superb. BBC news arrived
together with the
Southport Visiter and Champion newspapers. BBC Radio
Merseyside and Forces Radio took several interviews. Of significance Fusilier Andrew Barlow (George Medal) turned up to endorse the
BLESMA fundraising. Blackpool
BLESMA coach turned up (all 40 ft of it). It was a terrific backdrop for the
pictures and
newsclips. In addition we
recorded several
newsclips for Yorkshire Radio advertising JD Cycles. The day concluded with us walking around
Southport with the bike collecting for
Queenscourt. Everyone in
Southport seems to have seen us - lets hope it ends up in some serious cash for 2 great charities. The challenge has begun; my only concern is that 50k is an awful lot of money to raise. Our Just
giving website reads [amount collected so far - 0:00]
